The bezel — the frame around your laptop's screen — quietly does a lot of protecting. It shields the edges of the display, often houses the camera and microphone, and helps keep the whole lid assembly rigid. A crack or a loose section is rarely just cosmetic.
Signs it's worth sorting
- Visible cracks, chips, or sections that have come loose
- A bezel that flexes or moves more than it should when the lid opens and closes
- The webcam or microphone behaving oddly since the knock
- Dust or debris finding its way in around the edges of the screen
How we handle it
We check whether the bezel alone is affected, or whether the screen and hinges underneath took some of the impact too. From there we repair or replace the bezel as needed, and make sure the camera, microphone and display are all behaving properly before handing it back.
Why it's worth doing properly
A loose or cracked bezel left alone tends to let more knocks through to the parts it's meant to protect — better to have it sorted while it's still a small job.
