A crack in the back glass is often dismissed as cosmetic — until it starts creeping further across the panel, catching on pockets and bags, or letting moisture sneak in around the edges. Left alone, a small crack from a drop can turn into a much bigger headache.
Signs it's worth sorting sooner rather than later
- A crack that's slowly spreading across the back panel
- Sharp edges or lifted glass that catch on pockets and cases
- Glass that's separating slightly from the frame
- Wireless charging that's become hit-and-miss since the drop
How we handle it
Back glass sits close to delicate components — the wireless charging coil, antennas and internal sensors — so it needs a patient, methodical hand. We remove the damaged panel carefully, check that nothing underneath has been affected by the original knock, then fit a replacement panel and make sure the seal, charging and sensors are all behaving before it leaves the bench.
